Customer Reviews
Customer Review: I’m very familiar with Malaysia and have been to many of the cities/areas listed in the book, and to many of the locations mentioned in the book for diving. I don’t need a guide for Malaysia myself, but I picked up this book because I was curious to see its contents. I have to say that I am very impressed. I am actually going to ask my kids to read it now because the book is really a wonderful introduction to everything that is Malaysia. It is concise and with just enough information to give you a rough overview and pique your interest, and you can find more information online if you need it. It will really save you a lot of time in research. There are really good sample itineraries – each a little short for each city IMHO but ok doable, which I was impressed with, e.g. I did not know that there is a ferry from Penang to Langkawi. There are also a lot of tips such as cultural tips (such as, yes it’s hot but please dress conservatively), and of course an introduction to all the food. I also loved that there are some useful phrases of Bahasa Melayu. And I liked that the guide recommended Grab for transport because it ensures you get to where you want to go, and the trip is tracked and logged – you won’t have the same level of assurance with hailing a local taxi. Consider yourself warned. If you are reading this because you are planning a trip to Malaysia, I wish you a wonderful trip.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Customer Review: I love DK guides. They are my go-to brand for travel. They chunk up itineraries well, provide the perfect mix of words and imagery, and highlight the best things region by region. Also, they aren’t too big to cart around. Just got this a couple days ago, and am already halfway through reading it work for word, something I never do with larger travel guides that are 90% text. This is a guide that is a great complement to the internet. It gives such a great overview for a country I’m completely unfamiliar about, and I use it to know what to search to build my itinerary.
Customer Review: This guide is great, with many colorful pictures e maps. Sometimes it’s much easier to look at the picture instead of reading the description of a place.

A great resource should offer up-to-date information on transportation, entry fees, opening hours, and cultural norms. It should also highlight both iconic landmarks—like the Petronas Twin Towers and Batu Caves—and lesser-known local favorites. Accessibility matters too: guides should be easy to read on the go, whether in print or digital form.
